Happy to have known Janice through the DofE award unit at the Youth Service Centre in Grimsby between 1997 and 2001. Alongside Matt Hackfath who ran it, she was a very supportive and influential figure during this time. I would not have gone on to do some of the things I've done if it weren't for the time I spent there. So I was sad to hear of her passing. Condolences to all who knew her.

I have happy memories of camping with Janice's guides and brownies. Janice always had time for each child making them all feel equally important to her. I shall miss her friendship.

Janice and I met in hospital in 1988 ish she was so kind to me at a really hard time, little did I know she would walk into D of E a couple of years later as a new staff member ! The first thing she said was I didn’t recognise you dressed! Janice was part of the D of E team for over 25 years and during that time we had some amazing adventures. She touched so many young people’s lives and became a good friend to everyone. We talk about memories that Janice made with us every time we are away! She’s with us every time something funny happens and every time we do or plan something that we know would have made her smile ! When we plan where an expedition will finish and it’s near the loos we smile as that’s the Janice effect. We will never forget you Janice you’re part of us and we are better for having you with us! Your kindness selflessness generosity and commitment to young people made you one special lady . Xxxx
