In loving memory of Ruth Alison Buttery who sadly passed away on 17th April 2019. It is difficult to put into words the person she was and the way that she touched the world. To all she met she was kind and selfless. To her friends she was a listener and a drinking partner. As a mother she managed to find the perfect balance between best friend and parent. Ruth had a difficult year, after being diagnosed with Stomach Cancer last May her life rapidly changed, but, her soul and personality prevailed through even the darkest times. She will be so deeply missed but we find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace.

Mums funeral will be held on 16th May 2019 at Babworth Crematorium at 2Pm. A Wake will be held straight after the funeral at The Crown Hotel, Bawrty, Doncaster DN10 6JW.

We invite anyone who feels they want to attend and welcome those who had a relationship with Mum and would like to say goodbye. Please use the Attendance tab on the obituary to let us know if you are able to attend the funeral as this will give us an idea of numbers. The dress code is smart, within this please wear whatever you would like to. All black is not required.
Flowers from only immediate family please. Mum asked instead that donations should be made to Macmillan Cancer Support. Please find the fundraiser page here - https://www.facebook.com/donate/381719399342236/

I remember visiting the Smith cousins at “Winlatter” ( how important the Lake District was) in Ashby de la Zouch and Ruth always so bright and often in the middle of dressmaking. She was so clever with her creative skills. In more recent years Anne and I meeting Ruth with extended family at Cockermouth was a real joy. Ruth will always be alive in our hearts and memories. A real shining personality.

Happy childhood memories of many fun times spent playing with my cousins Ruth and Nicola as children. Dandelion and Burdock, Smiths crisps followed by proper English tea around the big table in the lounge with Auntie Jean Uncle Eric and Grandma Smith.
Ruth you will be really missed but always remembered with love and fondness.
All my thoughts are with John, Jennifer Alice and Nicola.
