In loving memory of the late Eric Charles Cooter who sadly passed away on 27th February 2015
ERIC COOTER
Eric was a devoted husband to Cis, they met in their teens and were soon married which lasted over 66 years. He was a very caring and loving husband he always used to make everyone laugh and his presence brightened up a room. Him and Cis used to enjoy their breaks away at Surrey with their great nephews who always made sure Eric had that beautiful smile on his face.
Eric was always the life and soul of the party with always something up his sleeve to entertain his family and friends, there was never a dull moment when he was around. A fun loving husband to the end.
Eric was also a devoted father to Hilary who he loved dearly. As Hilary was growing up she can remember every morning Eric used to wake her singing his rendition of Lazy bones or Oh what a beautiful morning while bringing her breakfast in bed, toast, marmite and peanut butter with a daily comic of Beano, Dandy and Sparky which he had collected while taking their poodle Penny for her morning walk.
Every year the family used to go to Butlins where Hilary used to enter all the competitions and normally ended up winning something, and most years it would rain but Eric being the forever optimist would say its a clearing up shower tomorrow the sun will shine.
Erics first love after his family was football, he play as a semi professional for Crystal Palace in his younger years, then became a avid fan going to all the Palaces home games, when he moved to Peterborough in 1978 he then followed posh and had a season ticket for many years
Fishing was also a great love of Erics he used to take the family off on the weekend for a fishing trip, not that he ever caught alot as he spent most of the time untangling everyone who got caught up in the trees.
Eric was a real family man many weekends were spent visiting relations in Liverpool and Folkestone and you can bet whenever they got together they were always up to something.
When Hilary got married Eric certainly gained a son in law he became a dad to Willy he taught him everything he knew, they would often undertake projects together, mind you quite often they would end up arguing, but in the end everything turned out fine and as always a good job was done.
Eric was also a devoted Grandad to Daniel who he loved and adored. If Daniel ever needed anything Eric would either make it, have it in his garage or know somebody that could help. Eric was always helping somebody, he never put his self first, if you needed something and he had it, it was yours.
Eric had a fascination for musical instruments his grandson Daniel used to say to him Grandad why do you have in your loft a drum kit, trombone, saxophone, keyboard and ten guitars when you cannot play any of them and he used to say don’t worry boy you can learn to play them.
One of Erics favourite pastimes was car boot sales he loved them many of his Sunday mornings was spent rummaging through other peoples rubbish, but what he had to do was get them into the house without Cis knowing as she would go spare at him for buying more rubbish, but he managed it as his garage today is the proof of that.
Eric was always laughing and singing even in the last few weeks of his life he was singing in his hospital bed and would have a huge smile on his face.
Dad I only hope they serve Ruddles in heaven.
