In loving memory of John Alexander Walton who sadly passed away peacefully at home on 30th March 2019. John was a Geordie by birth but you would never know. After the army and university he settled in Reigate where he met Margaret. They travelled the world together, and he looked after her till she died a couple of years ago.

John was a true gentleman: honest, loyal and hard-working, always the first to offer help and advice. Loved by everyone who knew him, he enjoyed a long and happy retirement after a fulfilling career. He will be sorely missed by family and friends alike. Instead of flowers, please give to one of the charities close to his heart. He gave regularly to many more, but these two are the ones we chose.

John Walton donated £41 in memory of John

This is the cash given to me by people at the funeral, after the funeral directors had left.

John and Maggie were always a tremendous support to John and I from when we first started out. John was always the perfect gentleman, walking me home after babysitting young John whilst they went out dancing. They often surprised us with gifts of things we needed. Somehow they just knew what to get. I was a young bride and they were both very supportive throughout the early years and beyond with any problems we went through. Nothing was ever too much trouble and they always found the time. John was a very kind and generous man over the years and someone I grew very fond of.

Uncle John was such an important part of our family, he was so quiet, dependable and supportive. We enjoyed a number of conversations at various family gatherings, a very interesting man with many stories of his life and especially of his many years with Auntie Maggie. They had wonderful life long relationship and devotion to one another which was truly inspirational. He cared for her so diligently. His strength, determination and staying power were second to none, a real Yorkshireman and he will always hold a special place in our hearts.
