In loving memory of the late Valerie Patricia Ann Sowerby who sadly passed away on 9th February 2015
Val as she liked to be called was born Valerie Patricia Ann Keefe on 17/11/1944 to John and Mabel Keefe
Val met the love of her life Peter Sowerby when she was 14 in Coronation Park Cafe in Crosby.
Seven years later they married at St Frideswydes Church in Thornton
Val and Pete as they where known to friends had two children Ian Peter and Sharon Patricia.
Sharon tragically passing away aged 26 left a girl Charlotte-Anne Sowerby aged 4 whom Val and Pete raised as their own daughter.
Val was well known around the Crosby and Waterloo area and her career in the Estate Agents industry brought her into contact with many people over the years all of whom described her as "a special lady"
Val loved her family fiercely and some of her favourite times where spent on holiday in Wales and the West Country.
Val when at home loved to knit and every new baby in the road she lived in received shawls, coats and mittens in various colours.
Val was a fun loving lady who always had a smile and a kind word for those she came into contact with.A wicked sense of humour ,a caring nature a positive outlook and a will of iron sums up the person she was.
In later life her positivity and strong will was tested as she fought back from cancer and sailed through a liver transplant.
She described her last 5 years with her husband and best friend Pete as "some of the happiest times of my life".
A beautiful wife, amazing mother and loving grandmother Vals passing has left a hole in this world that can never be filled.
Good night and God bless Val/Mum/Nanny until we see you again you can rest in peace knowing you are always in our hearts.

To have know val has been a tremendous privilege. We have had many a laugh - and not a few hugs! She has been an inspiration and an encouragement. I visited val in the hospital in Birmingham just after the transplant - she was dressed and sitting on her bed with suitcase packed ready to go home. What a fighter, what courage, what a great friend! Rest in the love and peace of our Lord, Val. Till we meet again!!

It has been a privilege knowing Val. I found her a great encouragement in my ministry at St John's, Waterloo, both as Headteacher at the school and more recently as a minister at the church. I loved meeting at her home, discussing issues of life - and of LFC! You always knew where she stood! I visited her in hospital in Birmingham, only to find her with suitcase packed and within an hour it was I who waved her off to Liverpool. Her courage in facing so many challenges was so truly impressive an humbling. Val, may you est in peace and rise in glory!
