I have only just found this obituary through Googling Charles, having missed Christmas cards from him. I worked with Charles for a long time at Marconi in Portsmouth on speech processing and knew him very well. Both myself and my wife Christine are very saddened to find this as I would have attended his funeral had I known. He was a talented and generous friend who made a big contribution to all the projects we worked on and it is so sad to see he departed at, for these days, as relatively early age.
I would like to know a bit more about his life in Cheltenham and would welcome any contact from somebody who knew him through my email address.

From our days at Liss Mill when Charles was an eccentric but excellent role model for a young apprentice in his first job. Often fixated with polishing an already elegant solution he always made time to mentor and explain his ideas with charming humour
