In loving memory of Chris Battye who sadly passed away on 22nd June 2018 at his home in Ossett after a two and a half year courageous and dignified battle with cancer.

ANGIE HORSFALL donated in memory of Chris

We have so many fond memories of Chris and Maureen. Also Chris's mum and Dad. First at Mount Zion in Horbury in 1992, then on and off over the last 26 years. Back then myself, my husband Jim and our children, Lee then 14yrs old and Gemma then 12 years old all came to faith together. Chris and Maureen were instrumental in helping us all to grow as new Christians back then and we will always be grateful. We now have a family strong in faith. Our children are grown up and bringing their own children up in church. Our eldest grandchild has just been baptised at the age of 12.

Chris and Maureen have been such great examples of God's grace. It's was with sadness we learned of Chris's passing but also with great joy knowing he's now with his Lord and Saviour. Also that one day we will meet again among that great cloud of witnesses. Of that we have absolutely no doubt!

Our thoughts and prayers are with Maureen and the family at this time.

Uncle Chris... he was over the moon when he first found out I was going to start supporting Dewsbury Rams. Proper proud (grandad) moment. Will miss him loads and his encouraging words of wisdom!
Even to days before he passed he was still been cheeky and winding me up and we really did have a special moment laughing right up until the last few hours!
Love you forever and always
Danni

Gilly Armitage donated £10.50 in memory of Chris

Well I first met this gentleman in church and found we had friends in common, a small world, Chris talked me through a very difficult time in my life offering his knowledge and support. Was shocked to find out about his condition and more so mine, and again we shared Chemo sessions, Chris remained happy and positive thoughout and gave me the courage to fight this horrendous battle. I salute you sir and in your memory will continue to fight. RIP my friend until we meet again God bless, you are safe in his arms.

  • From Spain I send my sincere condolences to Maureen, Rachel and the rest of the family. I knew Chris way, way, back when I was a member of Mount Zion church in Horbury in the 70's. He was a very good friend to me through some difficult times in those far off days. When I heard of his condition I was helping my husband through the dreaded disease - which took him away two years ago. Rest in peace my friend. God is good and He now has you in His arms.
