In loving memory of Anil Jayawardena who sadly passed away on 21st December 2017.

Beloved son of Sujatha and Dukhinda, brother to Tiny, Leo, Cedric & Rochelle, life partner to Jen and close friend to many.

His passing was sudden but peaceful and although he will be enormously missed, we take comfort that he did much good in his short life.

The date and time of the funeral: Wednesday 3rd January 2018 at 11:15 am, East Chapel, Croydon Crematorium. Entrances via Thornton Road CR76BB or Mitcham Road. All are welcome.

The funeral will consist of a traditional Buddhist Service and last approximately 45mins. Thereafter we welcome you all to join us at St Judes & St Aidan Church, Thornton Road, Thornton Heath CR7 6BA to gather in his memory.

The family requests that instead of flowers a donation be made to a charity of your choice or to Buddhist temple which is a charity:
Thames Buddhist Vihara, 49 Dulverton Road, Selsdon CR2 8PJ with reference to Anil Jayawardena.

We will be collecting toys and children's clothing to donate to those children less fortunate. If you have any unwanted toys or clothing, even broken toys, we will find a good home for them. Simply let Anil’s sister Rochelle know and she will be in touch with details.

Anil my friend, it has taken me this long to build up the strength to write this message and as I do I still cannot believe you are gone. I've known you for 25 years now and never was there a day in that time that you friendship was doubted. I, as also many of your friends, knew that if there was something that needed to be done we simply just picked up the phone and you were there. I, however will always remember the other times. The times we used to spend in Apache, or the pub or even the countless hours spent just chatting at the garage, be it Lyndhurst Road or Gladstone Road, the crazy adventures we had and above all the laughs. I will never forget the time you spent with me and my family when my dad passed away, to this day my family remember that and comment on how your support gave us strength at that time. Wherever you are now my friend I hope you are at peace, you may be gone but you will NEVER be forgotten.

Our deepest sympathies at the loss of my cousin Anil going out to his Fiance, his parents and siblings. He was a wonderful human being and remember how he and his family were kind and hospitable in Jan 2002 when they hosted me in their home when I landed in U.K for the first time.In September last year I spent some time with him and was happy to be shown around his new home. What happened to Anil shows the impermence of life. He left this world so prematurely in the prime of his life. But this is the eternal truth which we all will be subjected too. In memory of Anil
I will be donating medical supplies to the Professorial Surgical unit at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka on 01/15/2018 valued at over 20k USD. Also another donation will also be made to Tampa Buddhist Vihara and a 3months alms giving in his memory will be organized by my mother his Aunt Rupa in Sri Lanka in March. Please accept our sincere condolences and know that you will keep strong according to the teachings of the Dhamma. May he attain the supreme bliss of nirvana.
