Stephen was very important in my life when I first moved to London at 22, thinking I knew everything and slowly realising I knew nothing that mattered. My old friend, Giz, who I met at the same time, has pretty much said what I want to say in his message so I'll just add that it was a delight to keep in touch with Stephen on and off over the years (his emceeing at tea dances I organised in Hammersmith later in my career were a droll delight). I am so pleased I was able to see him last year to say some of this to him and to say goodbye. Gone but never forgotten.
