In celebration of the life of Karen Susan Thorpe

Born on Beech Avenue in Beeston, Nottingham where Karen spent most of her childhood. Until the age of 11, holidays were taken at Mablethorpe. Karen had many happy memories of time playing by the river Trent, in such places as the weir field, gravel pits and willow woods. Their were many train trips to Trent lock. Karen remembered helping her mom Laura with the cooking and going out with her dad Jack on a Sunday for bike rides, many a time they would ride along the river Trent to Attenborough nature reserve and call at the Bluebell pub, her dad would have a pint and Karen would have a glass of orange juice.

Karen leaves her brother Kevin, 2 years younger, who married Terry and have 3 daughters Faye, Kim and Zoe. Karen was very protective of her brother Kevin and loved him dearly. When Karen was 13, Janet Mills came to the high school and they were best friends forever.

When Karen was 15 she left school and went into the sewing industry, her first job was bar tacking suspenders on to roll-ons and she had many different sewing jobs after that, which she also enjoyed.

Karen married Gary Mann at the age of 20, a year later David Christopher came along, Karen had many happy memories, especially holiday time. When Karen was married she lived in Birmingham for 6 years before moving to Tamworth, Karen liked Tamworth as it was similar to how Beeston was to Nottingham for her.

When David was 9 years old they moved to Jowett in Lakeside. Her mom Laura and dad Jack moved around the corner in Jowett 5 years later, Karen loved having them so close. 5 years after moving to Jowett her dad Jack sadly passed away and her marriage sadly ended within 2 years of that.

Karen attended the wedding of her son David to Vicki May 1999, Karen loved Vicki and could not have picked better she often said, she always wished David and Vicki every happiness through the good times and the bad.

The last few years had been some of the best, Karen loved working with Pat and David and she enjoyed attending St Georges church. Karen had many friends at the church, too many to name but thanks them all for their support.

Most of all she gave thanks to God for those years spent with her mother Laura, who sadly passed away 2 years ago, they had some fun and were always having a giggle. Karen leaves behind her grandson Campbell aged 7 whom she had a special bond with and loved dearly.

Karen hopes that as you say goodbye to her on the 6th you will remember all the good times and in her recent note she commented "May God bless you all".

Andy and Vicky Elkin donated £30.46 in memory of Karen

Thank you for all the lovely memories. We wish you and all those loved ones affected strength and fortitude.

All our love. Xxx

Please find below, the prayers of intercession said in remembrance of Karen, and for the family at St. George's Church 06/10/17

Let us pray in the name of the Father & of the Son & of the Holy Spirit.
Amen

Father God - Your Apostle St. Paul wrote the following words to the church in Ephesus some 2000 years ago, yet these words are as equally challenging to us today – Paul Wrote: “I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”

Father we thank you for the privilege that we were witnesses to Karen’s life, lived worthy of the calling she received from You.
Her reward was Your unfailing love and Your gift of Family whom she treasured & who we lift up to you now, her Son David; Daughter-in-law, Vikki and grandson Campbell; Brother Kevin & wife Terry – And Nieces – Fae, Kim and Zoe
Father, may you bless them & keep them now and always, by the help & grace of the Holy Spirit.
Lord in Your Mercy hear our prayer.

God our Father,
We thank you that you have made each of us in your own image, and given us gifts and talents with which to serve you.
We thank you for Karen,
For the years we shared with her,
For the good we saw in her,
For the love we received from her.
Now Lord, give us strength and courage to leave her in your care, confident in your promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

Gracious God,
Surround us and all who mourn this day with your continuing compassion.
Do not let grief overwhelm your children, or turn them against you.
When grief seems never-ending, take them one step at a time along your road of death and resurrection
In Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Almighty God - May we never forget the slenderness of the thread, which separates life from death and the suddenness with which it can be broken. Help us also to remember that on both sides of that division we are surrounded by Your love. Persuade our hearts LORD that when our dear ones die neither we nor they are ever parted from You. In You Lord Jesus may we find our peace and in You be united with them in the glorious body of Christ, Who has burst the bonds of death and is alive for evermore, our Saviour and theirs for ever and ever.
Amen.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of Your Son our saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

God bless,

Terry

It is so sad that, after having taken such good care of our Mum until she passed away, that you had to leave us only 2 short years later. Of consolation is knowing that you are now at peace and reunited with Mum and Dad once again.

Miss me, but let me go

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little, but not for long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that once we shared
Miss me, but let me go.

For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the master plan
A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know.
Laugh at all the things we used to do
Miss me, but let me go.
