In loving memory of Edna Muriel Franklin who sadly passed away on 14th May 2017

An enduring memory of Edna: in her own home, in her favourite chair, with a book at her side and with the garden outside that she so obviously enjoyed. Unfortunately the cat had vanished and there wasn't one of the foxes in the background

It is with great sadness we say goodbye to our wonderful friend and next door neighbour Edna.
Edna was such a lovely person and always ready for a chat. We were lucky enough to welcome Edna into our family celebrations at christmastime. I remember the first time she celebrated Christmas with us and our extensive extended family, was after her dear friend Aileen had passed away. Edna made arrangements for a friend to come for tea later that afternoon, but she was having such a lovely time she almost forgot to go home to greet her friend. Edna had a wonderful appetite and it was lovely to see her truly enjoy her Christmas dinner. Another more scary recollection was when i had just finished baking a birthday cake for my granddaughter, when i received a call asking did i have a first aid kit? I duly popped next door with my first aid kit to find a trail of blood and Edna sitting on a chair in the kitchen trying unsuccessfully to stem bleeding from her leg. when i looked i realised she needed hospital treatment, but true to form Edna didnt want to make a fuss and wanted me to stick a plaster on... I persuaded Edna that Purley hospital walkin centre was a must. She bravely had several cleanings and stitches without any pain relief. It took many months for that wound to heal. Another more pleasant memory was when we shared a lovely 90th Birthday celebration at the Chateau Napoleon where we spent a very pleasurable afternoon with family and friends. We will miss her dearly and each time we look next door we expect her to pop out for a chat. With much love she will always be in our thoughts. Lesley & Steve xx
