Catherine Anne Dipré (4 Dec 1936 - 4 May 2017)

In loving memory of Catherine Anne Dipré who sadly passed away on 4th May 2017.

Catherine was born in December 1936 on the family farm in Ballycroy, County Mayo, the eighth of nine children born to Michael and Rose Anne Gallagher.

She worked in domestic service in Ballycroy and Dublin before following many of her siblings to London in the late 1950s, working at the Tavistock Hotel and the Post Office Savings Bank. Surrounded by family and good friends, many evenings were spent dancing at the Buffalo, the Galtymore and Charlie Mack’s in Victoria, where through mutual friends, she met and fell in love with Jerry.

They married in 1965 and lived for a short while at his family home in Stoke Newington before buying the house in Bexleyheath, where they spent their happy, married life together. They started a family of their own with Stephen, the first of three boys, born in 1967 followed by Michael and David. A wonderful mother and wife who dedicated herself to caring for the family, whilst dress-making, knitting and furniture upholstery occupied her 'free time'. She was an enthusiastic lover of life, great fun to be with and a friend to many.

Throughout the difficult times, despite her dementia, her true character remained steadfast. She remained loving and welcoming, always greeting you with her warm, generous smile.

Three grandchildren, Jacob, Lucien and Rose gave her much joy in later years.

We have lost an amazing mother, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend.
