In loving memory of Thomas Ronald Mangnall who sadly passed away on 7th April 2017

Dad's life was not clear cut and straight forward! Firstly most of you know him as Ron Mangnall and not Thomas; he was always Ron to friends and family and Tom to work colleagues which even confused Sheila, Stephen, Christina and Andrew.

He was born in Abram, Lancashire to William and Lilly Mangnall on 19.12.1929. After leaving school he started an engineering apprenticeship but before he completed this, ALL apprentices were asked to leave and make way for returning servicemen to have jobs after the Second World War. Ron then joined the Royal Air Force as an airman and worked his way up to Warrant Office, Master Flight engineer. Retiring after 27 years having been stationed at St Athen, Egypt, Nairobi (East Africa), Abingdon, Lyneham, Cranwell along with many other stations and flying to far too many countries around the world for us to name or remember!! Flying on the Beverley and Britannia moving freight and personnel around the world we remember he would save his chocolate from his food rations for us as children and baskets of oranges from Cyprus.

He married Sheila Stuart in 1953 and had 3 children. Stephen, Christina and Andrew. However this ended in divorce in about 1974 when he then moved and made his life in Lincolnshire with Gill.

In 1994 Christina sadly lost her battle to cancer leaving two young children (Lisa and Philip) at the age of 36 years old. this had a huge impact on the whole family and we all hold our memories close to our hearts.

He was a keen member of several Brass Bands in Lincoln playing trumpet, French horn and cornet.

Golf was a very big part of Dad and Gills life being members No 3 and No 4 of Welton Golf Club playing twice a day, five days a week up until Gill died in 2001.

After this time he decided to take dance classes and met Joyce. They enjoyed dancing several times a week locally and on cruises where they waltzed into many European countries and even to the Caribbean.

Sadly Dad started showing the signs of Dementia about 4 years ago and eventually had to move into Tennyson Wharf Care Home in 2015

Please feel free to share your memories with us of which we are sure there are many

Many thanks

Stephen and Andrew
