Peacefully at St. Columba's Hospice Edinburgh on Wednesday January 18 2017, with his family by his side, Gavin Robert, loving husband to Susan, devoted dad to Matthew and Christopher, cherished son of Margaret and the late Malcolm and dear brother to Karyn. A celebration of Gavin's life will take place at Warriston Crematorium Lorimer Chapel on Monday 6th February at 11.15am, to which all are welcome. Family flowers only please but a collection will be taken in aid of St Columba's Hospice.

Dear Margaret, 9 years after Gavin has gone, Ewoud found the message that Gavin died. We all are so in shock that he left this world and went to heaven so young. Ewoud, Nynke and me we are so sorry!
We hope that Susan and also you and the two boys are doing well.
I had to write you, so there are still friends who are thinking of him!
My husband also died the 22th of July 2017.
It was a sad year.

  • Dear Iris, this is Susan (Gavin’s widow). Margaret passed away nearly 3 years ago but Karyn (Gavin’s sister) told me who you were. Thank you for your kind message. Our sons were only 12 and 9 when Gavin died and he had been very ill for the 18 months before that with cancer and encephalitis, it was an awful time. Our oldest son Matthew 21 is now in the Royal Navy and our youngest Christopher 19 is about to start university. I hope you and your family are well.
