My husband David and I knew Alan through the Meadhurst Rambling Association and have only just heard the sad news of his death. We had not seen him at the club for some time but always enjoyed talking to him and his good humour. I am sure he will be sorely missed by his family and friends to whom we send our condolences..

This is very sad news. I have just found out about Alan's death so am sorry not to have sent my condolences sooner. Alan was my Godfather and although I haven't seen him for a very long time, because I now live overseas, I will remember him as a very kind, intelligent and interesting man.
My condolences go out to the whole family.
