Please join us in celebrating the life of our Dave who very sadly passed away on 1st June 2016 aged 68 years.
We ask you to wear a splash of colour as we feel Dad would not want us all in black.
The cremation will take place at 12.30 at Randalls Park in Leatherhead. We will then make our way to the Kingswood Arms (http://www.kingswoodarms.co.uk/) for a drink and a bite to eat.

We have chosen the British Heart Foundation as a charity we will be raising money for this year; so rather than flowers at the funeral we would suggest a donation to this charity which can be done via this website.

We look forward to seeing you on the day.

Dave has played an important role in my life, I met him, Anita and the boys when I was 15 ....we have shared all the important moments in our lives,. At the beginning he has been for me like a father but then we became really good friends. My family and me have so many unforgettable memories, beautifull days spent together in Italy and in England.
All your big italian family will miss you Dave! But I promise you that our relationship will go on keeping in contact with Daniel, Simon and Marc.
You will always be with me,
Paola and all "your italian family"

Dave was a true gent, kind and generous at heart always willing to listen to those with problems. Not loud or presumptuous ( unless of course with one two many ) open to share his space whether in Spain or at home which I did at times gone by. To quote these unforgettable words.....Thanks for the memories.....

I first met David in the then GPO almost 50 years ago, we became instant friends. To me, he was always known as Harryboy (a private GPO joke we shared) and we would greet each other with the same endearing Harryboy call.
As with all our busy lives, we lost contact in the middle years, but by chance bumped into each other on the club scene and picked up as if we've never been away. That's true friendship and David was that always caring and supporting with a wonderful sense of humour. He loved gadgets and DIY and nothing was too much trouble.
I had the pleasure of sharing a long holiday in Australia with David and other times in La Marina Spain.
A true and loyal friend who I will surely miss.
A lifelong friend who I owe such a lot to.
RIP David.

My precious, wonderful brother Dave, how are we going to cope without you around to help us?

Grief never ends it just changes
It is a passage not a place to stay
Grief is not a sign of weakness nor a lack of faith
It is the price of love .....

Love Abbie xxx

Each of the family members on the west-side of the Atlantic miss David very much! In particular, our parents (Stan and Maria Purves) are very much saddened by Dave's passing. I am posting this on their behalf, at their request, as they are unable to do so themselves.
I had hoped to see David this year; I had been discussing the idea of meeting him in Spain. Now I am regretting not meeting-up with him last year, as he had suggested.
We will not be able to attend the ceremony, but we will be there in spirit. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dave was my racquet ball partner and friend, he was a good man, kind and caring. He loved people and enjoyed their company, always lending a hand and a shoulder to cry on. His friends from racquetball have many fond memories of Dave and here’s some of them that I’d like to share with you ……..
Cannons health club (formerly Pinnacle/Cheam squash club), this is where the friendship began. Dave took part in club competitions and social events. From there friendships grew taking the racquet ballers to many social events, holidays to Club La Santa, and for some of us to his property in Alicante Spain.

Dave loved being part of a crowd, he joined in all fun and frolics. He loved banter and laughter with his friends, his sense of humour was second to none. Parties – you could always rely on Dave to be the life and soul of the party, he was always the last one to leave – or in most instances he didn’t, instead he just crashed out.

We’ve lost a good friend who’ll be dearly missed by all. I’m sure Dave is up there looking down upon us with a glass in hand!!

“Thank you” Dave for being our friend.
God bless you
