Missing You On Your Birthday

Today is full of memories
Happiness and tears,
Of birthday celebrations
We’ve shared throughout the years.

And though I’ll always miss you
The endless joy you brought,
Warms my heart with gratitude
And fills my every thought.

Wherever you are resting
I hope that you can see,
How precious and uplifting
Your memory is to me.

I feel that you are with me
In everything I do,
So I’ll celebrate your birthday
But I’ll spend it missing you.

Those who die don’t go away
They walk beside us every day,
Unheard, unseen but always near,
Still loved and missed and very dear.

Forty years ago Mummy was diagnosed with an advanced cancer and, against the odds, survived. She lived to see her children grow up and her five grandsons but also suffered health wise the consequences of her life saving treatment which ultimately led to another two cancers and her death. Cancer Research needs all the support it can to do anything it can to improve treatment and save lives.

Thank you to the Hospice team that looked after Mummy for so long, and, in particular Claire who throughout the eighteen months was so supportive and became a friend to Mummy and the family. I can never thank her enough for her visit on the final day when she helped us wash and make Mummy comfortable in such a gentle and tender way and gave us all the strength to be with Mummy until the very end.
The Hospice team are such an amazing group of people and the support and help they provide is absolutely incredible. Thank you.

Mummy, we lost you a month ago today. Peacefully, with no fuss, you quietly slipped away from us leaving a massive hole in our lives. Thank you for being such a wonderful person and for being such an amazing mother. I have so many loving memories of our time together and will always love you with all my heart xxxx xxxx
