I’ve had the privilege of watching my brother grow up from the moment he was born, through his toddler years and into the man he became. It feels strange to look back now and realise just how quickly those years passed.
I remember as a little boy he loved Teletubbies and Bob the Builder, and the sheer happiness on his face when he got his very own tool bench for Christmas one year. He loved creating, fixing and making lots of noise, skills that never left him!
As he grew older he always had a project on the go, and would often ride his bike from Stowupland to Mendlesham Green where he had his sheds. My Grandma would tell me how he would ride past her bungalow and always make the effort to wave and acknowledge her. It might seem like such a small thing, but it meant the world to her and always brought a smile to her face. She always commented about the ‘lovely young man’ he’d become!
When Steven was a teenager some of my fondest memories were the hours we spent together with Samuel, playing Call of Duty split-screen. We’d spend hours battling it out, laughing, maybe even crying, but making memories without even realising it. We’d eventually finish our gaming sessions with a well-earned McDonald’s treat. Those are memories I will always treasure.
I’m grateful that I got to be part of his life and to watch him become the man he was. Thank you for the memories. Rest peacefully, little brother
