Dear Val, who was around in my life for over 50 years, you are very much missed and mourned. We will miss your fun, sunny disposition, care for others and sense of humour. Things won’t be the same knowing you are no longer among us but know the lasting impact you made on the lives of very many people. Rest in Peace. Love, Jonathan

So very sad to be saying “goodbye’ to this very special lady.
So many funny memories to share but really I just remember laughing so much in Val’s company.
We went through a phase of signing up for half marathons. The first one was Paddock Wood and Val had to pull out. That was fine but I was so appreciative of her popping up at the finish line to congratulate me and give me a big hug.
The other vivid memory I have is of our piano playing. We had lessons following on from each other with Emma Pitts in Paddock Wood and I was definitely in the lead at the beginning but Val was very committed and soon overtook me. Occasionally we would try and play duets and were so hopeless because we were helpless laughing at our efforts.

I will always remember your kindness and generosity and that amazing smile, which just lit up the world. I will never forget your support to me; your beautiful children are a perfect reflection of your spirit and warmth and that must have been a great joy for you. You were so kind, thoughtful and generous and, at the same time, so full of mischief and fun. You knew what was important in life and created so many wonderful memories for those you loved. Such a class act, you carried yourself with grace and poise, even when life dealt you the bitterest of blows. I will think of you when I cook one of your recipes; when I wonder how I am going to fix a tear in some jeans without running up the road for help and when I see something that would have made you chuckle. What a privilege it has been to know you and what joy you bought to our lives. Rest well my darling friend x
