In Loving Memory of Our Mum,
Janice Margaret Johnson (Nee Burns)
4th August 1954 – 12th September 2026
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mum, who sadly passed away on 12th September 2026, aged 72.
Born on 4th August 1954 in Westhoughton, Mum was a much-loved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, auntie, friend and, above all, a truly remarkable woman.
Mum was one half of a very special bond, having been born a twin. Sadly, she lost her beloved twin sister Angela, nine years ago, a loss she carried with her always. Her parents have also passed away, but she leaves behind her older and younger brothers, who will forever share the memories of the wonderful sister they had.
Mum married our dad Barry in November 1981, and together they built a loving family. She was heartbroken when she lost Dad ten years ago, but she continued to be the strong, caring and selfless person she had always been.
She was a devoted mum to us three children- Gary, Leanne and Craig and a much-loved grandmother to her three grandchildren, Molly, Jack and Amelia who meant the world to her.
Mum worked nights for many years as a catering supervisor and was also a full-time carer. She spent so much of her life looking after other people, often putting everyone else’s needs before her own. She truly was the most selfless person on the planet. If someone needed her, she was there. If someone needed a friend, she listened. Her kindness knew no bounds.
Mum was a friend to so many people and had a way of making people feel cared for, accepted and loved. She touched countless lives simply by being herself.
She had her favourite things in life too — she loved darts, bingo, Formula 1 and snooker, especially watching Ronnie O’Sullivan. She was also a huge Lewis Hamilton fan. These were the things that brought her enjoyment, and no doubt many happy memories will now be attached to them.
But Mum’s greatest love was always her family and the people she cared about.
There will never be enough words to describe what she meant to us. Her loss has left an enormous emptiness that can never be filled. We will miss her voice, her laughter, her kindness, her advice and simply knowing that she was there.
Mum gave so much of herself to others throughout her life, asking for very little in return. She leaves behind a lifetime of love, memories and people who were lucky enough to know her.
Although our hearts are broken, we will carry her with us every single day.
Rest peacefully, Mum.
You gave us a lifetime of love, and we will spend the rest of ours missing you. Xxxx
