Brian Frederick Marriott, born on 02nd March 1941, at 30, Brunner Avenue Shirebrook.

He leaves his wife Dorothy of 65 years of marriage, Son David, Grandson Jasper and Brother John. Although, he was pre-deceased by his sister Kay.

Educated at Langwith Bassett School and Carter Lane Boys School. Leaving school in 1957, he went into Boy Service, joining the Royal Signals. After passing out, he was deployed to Germany 1959 To 1962 and whilst back on leave in December 1960, he married Dorothy on the 17th. He served for another 3 years, until being invalided out of the army in 1963.

Brian enjoyed the great outdoors and joined the Holy Cross rambling club. He also volunteered for the scout movement, firstly as chief cook for Dorothy on Cub Camp. Then moving on to help out on Scout Camp with his brother-in-law Ben, before becoming the Venture Scout leader for Whaley Thorns troop. Whilst doing this he still enjoyed his rambling and in the peak district completed the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge. He also organised for the Scouts to participate in an alternative camp, which came the highlight of many of their Summers of Narrow Boat Trips from Foxton. Something he carried on with a few afterwards, but suspiciously the boat would always overheat near a canal side pub, where they had to stop to allow it to cool back down.

Brian retired from work in 1998 due to Warsop Colliery closing and health problems.

He still enjoyed holidaying, even abroad – adventuring to Majorca, Spain mainland and even Turkey with his Grandson, enjoying a cold one and hearty food.
