In loving memory of Jacqueline Basilevitch who sadly passed away on 14th August 2026.
Born in Liverpool, Jackie was a Francophile and obtained a French degree from Sheffield University going on to share her knowledge of the French language through teaching at several schools. In Devon she lived with her late husband Alexei and two children Alex and Sophie, later becoming a loving grandmother and great-grandmother.
She never stopped learning and loved to read, recognising the value that books, poetry and literature could bring as a form of beauty and escapism to anyone at any age.
Those who knew Jackie knew how warm and caring she was, and how she would always have time to smile and talk to others, whether it was passing the time of day whilst working in the garden, or sharing a cup of tea and a slice of her lemon drizzle or chocolate cake, which were the best home-baked cakes this side of Devon.
We are thankful for having someone who was always there for us, with constant love and support, and take comfort knowing that she will live on in our hearts forever.
