It is with love and sadness beyond words that we announce the passing of my wonderful husband, Alex Michael Lee Daines, who suddenly and devastatingly lost his life in a motorcycle accident on 19th July 2026.

Alex was the most incredible husband, loving father to his three children he adored, and was loved by his foster family who he regarded as his parents and sister.

Alex lived a life full of passion, loyalty, adventure, and love. He proudly served his country with the Royal Artillery 39 Regiment, carrying with him the strength, courage, and brotherhood that would remain such an important part of who he was.

He was an exceptionally talented timer framer, taking enormous pride in his work and earning the respect and friendship of those fortunate enough to work alongside him, to whom he was not simply a colleague but a brother, someone they could rely on in and out of work, whose place will never be filled.

Alex was a valued member of Devizes RFC, where over his five years with the club, he formed friendships and made memories that will last a lifetime. He was a loved member of the biking community where he found so many who shared his love of two wheels, freedom, and the adventure, and formed so many bonds with so many people and loved being part of that world.

But above all, Alex was simply Alex, a man with an enormous heart who loved his friends deeply; he was always there when someone needed him. He would help anyone, give his time freely to anyone who needed him, and never hesitate to go out of his way to help anyone who needed it.

The pain of losing Alex is impossible to put into words. He was so many things to so many people, but to all, he was irreplaceable. He was the love of my life, and his loss has changed me profoundly.

Alex's funeral will be on 10th August 2026 at 4:30pm in Semington.

There will be a bike escort for Alex; further information will be shared to those who wish to ride.

Alex, you were loved more than words can describe; you will be missed more than you could ever know.

My loving husband, kind father, caring son, brother, friend, teammate, soldier, biker, protector, we love you.

Today, Dainsy, my thoughts are with you and your family. Surrounded by friends and loved ones, may you receive the send-off you truly deserve.
It was an absolute pleasure and privilege to have served alongside you. Your cheeky, vibrant and mischievous spirit will be deeply missed, but certainly never forgotten.
Rest in peace, Dainsy. Your duty is now done. Stand easy. 🕊️

I lost my husband of 5 years and father to my 2 young children in 2010 in the same way. I know exactly how his wife is feeling. The pain never goes away, you just learn to live with it. He will always be a part of your life, and you will see him in your children as I see my husband in my children. My heart goes out to you and your family. We too had my husbands funeral at the crematorium at Semington.
