Joan Kettle (4 Feb 1935 - 19 Jun 2026)

I have had the pleasure of seeing Joan for her hair appointments for over 30 years. For many years every week and in the last few years fortnightly.
I feel we clicked right away and we would talk or most likely laugh the whole way through her appointment. During Covid when I wasn’t able to do Joans hair we use to ring each other every 2-3 weeks as we both missed our weekly get togethers.
Joan really was one of a kind with her quick wit, sarcasm but above all her caring nature. I feel privileged to have been part of her life and I will miss her greatly.

Mum, despite the fact that I was here with you, I cannot believe you have gone. I will be forever grateful for the time we spent together leading up to June 19th, those last few days were hard but wonderful, and I will always cherish our early evening walks around Stowupland green. You gave me life, a wonderful childhood, your spirit of adventure, and a lifetime of help, advice and wonderful memories.

Grandma, life will not be the same without you.

It’s sad to know we won't be able to hear more of the hilarious stories that you would share with us at our weekly visits over coffee, birthdays and Christmases.

We’ll always remember your passionate love of gardening which, even at the age of 91, you continued to enjoy and is testament to your tenacious spirit.

We’ll miss your razor sharp wit, relentless sarcastic comments and brilliant sense of humour but we are grateful for all the memories you have left us with.

Rest peacefully.

We will all miss Auntie Joan. I spent a lot of time with her as a child. She was the most amazing support to Mum and Dad during Val's illness and then to me when Mum and Dad died.
Joan made such an impression on everyone she met. Her quick wit and brilliant sense of the absurd were legendary.
May she rest in peace.

My dear, dear “other mother”.. I already really miss our long chats, I don’t know how the world will get fixed now that we’re no longer putting things right during our calls. I’m sorry that I left you with the worlds hardest jigsaw puzzle, and that you never got to finish it. Rest well mum, you were one of a kind, witty, smart and (just a tad) sarcastic haha. Thank you for being a lovely grandma to Jack. I have almost 40 years of memories that I’ll cherish forever.
