1937, Margaret aged five, together with her younger brother left Hammersmith and travelled to Helmingham, to begin a new life in the countryside with her new parents, Ruth and William Lucas.
Margaret loved her new home in Gosbeck Road, and lived there for the next 60 years before retiring and moving to Stowmarket. She attended Helmingham School, and upon leaving worked at Simons Chemists in Ipswich developing photographic films.
After marrying Sidney (John as he liked to be called) in 1951, Margaret had a son, John, followed by another son, Alan. Margaret then gave up her job in Ipswich and worked at Helmingham Hall. She loved the work at the hall and remained working there for ten years until the birth two daughters, First Sheila, followed by Sandra the following year.
Margaret was always busy; She loved embroidery, baking and making jams and pickles. She also used to help out cleaning the church and made many friends.
Later, when her daughters began school Margaret then went to work at the shop she first started work at, although it was now owned by Boots the Chemist. She worked there until retiring in 1999, She left her childhood home in Gosbeck Road and went to live in Combs in Stowmarket, but always talked about her happy memories there.
With husband Sidney, Margaret was always off out somewhere, Seaside in the summer and a coach trip or three in the colder months.
After the passing of Sidney, Margaret moved into Woodfield Court. It is a happy place, with the caring staff, there was always something going on.
Margaret was Grandma to, Jack, Andrew and Kimberley, and a Great Grandma to George.
