Harvey and Eve were always a part of my life growing up in Highfield Close - we lived opposite at no.14. As a budding engineer I was impressed by Harvey's home made electric garage doors, unique in the early 60s. However they had a tendency to open randomly at certain times of the year due to the sun reflecting off the dormer windows of our house at no.14. I remember Eve's cat lifting the letterbox flap to announce that it wanted to come inside. In my teens I ended up spending most weekend afternoons with Harvey in the workshop, Eve supplied us with endless cups of tea and biscuits. We cured the door problem at one these sessions.

When I moved to London, coincidentally, we ended up living only a few miles from Greenford where Harvey and Eve moved from when they came to Pembury.

I am very sad that we weren't able to see Eve again after her 100th birthday party last November and also that I can't be there today to say goodbye today due a hospital appointment.

With fondest memories, Jeremy
