Hugh Robert Neaves passed away peacefully on 22nd February 2026, aged 84.

A man of the land and a true fighter, he lived a life defined by hard work and a deep love for the outdoors.

A dedicated farmer through and through, he didn’t just work the land; he lived his work every day. When he wasn’t in the fields, he was pursuing his true passions: shooting, horse racing, cricket and spending time with his beloved dogs. He was well-known in the racing community as a proud owner of Point-to-Pointers, a hobby that brought him immense joy and many stories to tell.

Perhaps most remarkable was his sheer resilience. He faced daunting health battles, including a brain tumor and aortic valve issues, overcoming each with a strength that inspired everyone around him.

His legacy lives on through his beloved children, Andrew and Sally, their partners Valerie and Paul and his six grandchildren, William, Morgane, Alex, Savanah, Teigan and Ethan, who will all remember the great dad, grandad and true gentleman he was.

He was also a much loved brother.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Neaves and step-sons JJ and Richard.

"I farmed the land, I tramped the wood, these are the things I understood... I'm now at peace, life's battle is done, I've faced the foe and I have won”

Spring is here, and the circle of life begins again,we mourn our loved ones every day,but we live on for them, and all the wonderful memories we have.
