Dad,

I still can’t believe you’re gone. My heart is broken in a way I don’t quite have words for. Seeing you the very same day you were taken from us, feels so surreal now, I had no idea it would be the last time. If I had known, I would have hugged you longer.

You weren’t just my best friend’s dad. You were like a dad to me too. You always made me feel safe, welcome, and cared for. Your warmth, your wisdom, your quiet strength, they meant more to me than I ever said out loud.

Last Thursday was such a beautiful send-off. Your daughters did you proud, it was full of love, dignity, and the kind of grace that reflects the man you were. I know, without a doubt, you would have been so incredibly proud of them.

Thank you for every conversation, every laugh, every piece of advice, and every moment you made me feel like part of the family. I will carry you in my heart always.

Rest peacefully, dad. You were deeply loved — and you always will be. 🤍

Dad, my heart has been split in two. One side filled with memories and the other side died with you. I lay awake at night, and take a walk down memory lane with tears upon my cheek. Remembering you is easy, I do it every day. but missing you is a heartache that never will never go away. I hold you tightly within my heart, and there you will remain.

Missing you so so much dad

Love you

For Our Dad

You never needed a son,
four daughters filled your hands just fine.
Bernadette, Nichola, Samantha, and me Kerry —
your girls, your pride, your legacy.

You worked until your body ached,
long days on building sites,
hands rough, back sore,
but your heart was always soft for us.

We never went without.
We had the best of everything,
not because it was easy,
but because you made sure of it.
Our childhood was safe, full, and warm
because you carried the weight.

You taught us what love looks like
without always saying the words:
showing up, working hard,
providing, protecting,
being there.

The days feel heavier,
but everything you built still stands —
in us,
in the way we love,
in the strength you passed down.

Rest now, Dad.
Your work is done.
You did more than enough.
You were and always will be
our foundation.

Love you forever and ever Dad

  • This is such a lovely testament and so true for the Jimmy I got to know and respected dearly. He was a lovely man, kind, told it like it was, I also witnessed the love he showed to his girls and his Grandson Shae, who I would say was the son he never had. He doted on all his grandchildren and loved life no matter what it threw at him. I got to know the hardworking and loving man that he was, he was adamant to do things for you even when you know he shouldn’t, he always liked to do for others. I am glad I have some good memories of him, and my bathroom that he did, that I will never change, as a reminder to who he was. You will be truly missed Jimmy. RIP❤️❤️❤️🙏🏽Karen❤️

Jimmy boy,

You will be sorely missed, truly great man I felt an instant connection and camaraderie with. From the very first day we met, you treated me with respect, warmth, love amd generosity. You were a proper gentleman, a man who would go above and beyond for anyone, no questions asked.

I’ll miss our beers, the football debates, the occasional Xbox night, and of course you happily rabbiting on about Utd and George Best and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

You were the best father-in-law I could ever have asked for. You supported me in my football, stood proudly on the sidelines watching me and even my mates in cup finals (and thankfully there were a fair few!). You always had my back when things got tasty on the touchline.

When I coached Shae at DVFC, your steady presence and positive voice meant more to me than you probably ever realised, I’ll carry that with me forever.

We shared some brilliant days out together, memories I’ll always treasure.

I’ll miss you, big man.
With love,
Speirsy x

  • Beautifully put Lee - Jimmy was a complete joy during Rafa's Dulwich Village days - supporting, encouraging and very kindly ferrying back and forth - a match wasn't the same without Jimmy on the sidelines - sorely missed but never forgotten ❤️
