Sadly taken from us on 26th November, 2025, at West Suffolk Hospital, aged 82 years.
A devoted husband to the late Audrey, much loved father and father-in-law to Robert and Julie, Jacqueline and David and Thomas and Lucy. A proud grandad to Josh, Jez, Florence, Ambrose and Elsie.
Funeral service at St Peter and St Mary’s Church, Stowmarket on Monday, 12th January, 2026, at 11 a.m. followed by burial in Combs Cemetery.

The family wish to express their thanks to all that have taken care of Gerard over the last fifteen months; Wickham House, Mellish House and also the staff who cared for him in his final hours at West Suffolk Hospital.
A dedicated and loyal servant to the town of Stowmarket and its community. He will be sadly missed by many.

A True Gent always with a lovely smile on his face. Will remember him for his work at the greengrocers, gardening, Councillor, Town Mayor and Scouts. His legacy will be the man who got the new Scout building for Combs Ford.

We were neighbours with Gerard, Audrey and their family for 32 years. Gerard made us so welcome and supported. His wise words, human kindness were always there. I will miss our very long chats, the smile and that sparkle in those very kind eyes. Sleep well my friend 🧡.

Gerard and Audrey have always been part of my life. From stopping off at Brewster on the way to Combs Ford Primary in the Seventies to buy some Space Dust. To being my District Commissioner when I joined the Scouting Association in the my forties. Gerard has always had the wellbeing of Stowmarket and its youth at his heart! Gerard was a massive part of getting both of us into Scouting in Stowmarket, which is where we met! He was so supportive of young people and giving them opportunities! He is greatly missed.

Gerard was a kind, and always a good friend to me and my mum. The support both him and Audrey gave me when my mum passed way I’ll never forget. He’ll be sadly missed.
