In loving memory of Giuseppe Sarno, beloved husband, father and grandfather who sadly passed away on 28th September 2025.
He was born in Salerno, Italy on 14th September 1940, and had a harsh upbringing. His father died in a train accident in 1944 whilst looking for work to feed the family. His mother could not bring up all her children after that, and so Giuseppe was sent to a convent until the age of 16. He travelled to the UK in 1961, aged 20, to find work, just like his father, to help his family back in Italy. Whilst in England, he met Matilde, the love of his life, who travelled from Spain also for work. Two years later, on 4th August 1963, they were happily married.
Giuseppe was a kind, hard-working man who cared for his family, ensuring they wanted for nothing. He was the husband of Matilde for 55 happy years, and a great father to Carlo, Marco, Carmen, Ricardo and Mario. He took great pleasure in watching them grow and to be successful in their lives. He was blessed with six grandchildren; Francesca, Callum, Roman, Felipe, Bella and Katie, and he took great pleasure in watching them grow up.
Giuseppe was always willing to give his family, and others, a hand, whether it be DIY, gardening or just giving general, wise advice.
Together with Matilde he loved gardening, and the garden was always well-kept. When not doing this he would fill his house with Neapolitan songs from his youth. He loved the music of his homeland.
Giuseppe was close to his mother and brothers and sister and visited them as often as he could. Apart from his family, one of his greatest passions was watching snooker on TV and attending tournaments where he would meet his heroes.
As a family we will always miss his wise advice, as well as the general catch-up of our week on visits or phone calls, which he always enjoyed listening to. He has left a huge hole in our lives which is irreplaceable. He was one of a kind.
