William Ewart Gribble (16 Oct 1939 - 13 Sep 2025)

On 13th September 2025, Ewart passed away peacefully at Belmont Nursing Home, Frome, Somerset, aged 85 years.

Beloved husband of the late Pamela Gribble. Dearly loved dad of Nigel, Leah and Helen, father-in-law to Anna, Scott and Jim. Treasured grandad of Chloe, Jack (and wife Hannah), Rebekah (and partner Joe) and William, step-grandad to Jacob and Denis and great grandfather to Sienna. Much loved and will be sadly missed by us all.

Funeral service was at Coads Green Methodist Church on Monday 6th October at 1pm.
Ewart was laid to rest at Lanreath Churchyard - reunited with Pam.

The Farmer

He’s in the breeze and winters rain.
He’s left the land, his love remains.
It looks the same, each hill and tree
He was so very dear to me.
His boots would lie by the back door
His familiar voice we’ll hear no more.
No “put the kettle on for tea”
His pain is gone, he’s been set free
His precious farm was all his life
With Pamela, his own dear wife.
He loved his sheep, he knew them all
The cattle all came to his call
He grew his crops to feed his stock
He knew the seasons, sun and clock
A Cornish countryman at heart
He knew he’d farm right from the start
Dedication was the key
Lynher will be his legacy
We’ll carry on and do our best
Now is the time for him to rest
And every now and then we’ll smile
It may take us a little while
We will remember him each day
And smile about the things he’d say.
