A true gentleman taken too soon. It was a privilege to have met you. I will never forget the ride home in your magnificent Bently, or your encyclopedic knowlegde of all things car related. Condolences to Teresa and James

In loving memory of Andrew O'Dowd who sadly passed away on 10th September 2025 after almost 3 years battling cancer.
Nottingham University Hospitals have provided Andrew with excellent care and treatment during this time. For that reason, we are nominating NUH charity in Andrews memory. You can either donate direct with them https://andrewodowd.muchloved.com (QR code in photos) or using the JustGiving link on this obituary.
Andrew O'Dowd was born on 6th July 1963, in the police house at Manton in Worksop, Nottingham. He was the second of two children born to Mary Monica O'Dowd and Paul O’Dowd.
He attended the Becket school, studying O & A levels and leaving to join the Land registry. This sparked an interest in surveying and valuation, which was to be central to his professional career.
Learning to drive focused him on the internal combustion engine.
Andrew married Margaret and was pleased to be father to five children Claire, Louise, Jonathan, Luke and Nicola. He had to work hard – much of the time holding down two jobs, but they enjoyed life and holidays together.
Andrew and Chris established GP surveyors in 2000. It meant he finally had just one job but was probably more busy than ever. He was able to put all of his drive and energy into something which meant a lot to him.
Andrew met Teresa in 2009, marrying her at Nottingham Cathedral in 2011. They, along with their son James, had a wonderful life together, travelling as much as they could, improving their home with extensions, new buildings and redesigning their garden.
Of course we can’t forget Andrew’s love of cars, always watching car programmes and attending F1 races where possible.
Sadly, he was diagnosed with bowel cancer in December 2022. Since then, fighting to try and beat cancer occupied much of his time and energy. He was lucky to go on one last memory making trip for his birthday this year to Silverstone for the F1 with James and Teresa, and a brief visit to his favourite campsite in Normandy in August.
Andrew lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday 10th September, in the City Hospital, Nottingham.
We will be celebrating Andrew's life following the Funeral & Cremation at Ramsdale Golf Club, Oxton Road, Calverton NG14 6NU
