In loving memory of Anita Arkley who sadly passed away on 24th July 2025. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Anita was born in Ealing, West London, the only child of parents Joyce and Fred.
At the age of 23 years old she was married to Trevor Veail. Little is known of her marriage living in Linkfield Lane in Redhill at the time, but in 1989 Anita married Rhodo Donaldson-Bahr. It is understood that Rhodo unfortunately died from cancer in May 1993.
It is believed that Anita had a career as a civil servant, working for the HM Stationary Office at the Chessington Computer Centre processing civil service payroll, superannuation awarding and other administrative services. She retired to Tadworth where she quickly made friends in the local community due to her generous nature and thoughtful gifts.
She was a very private person, struggled with impaired hearing and was often reluctant to accept help. She found support in the local churches and was a regular worshipper; the vicar of St. Marks Church had a special ministry to the deaf and supported her for over 20 years. She also found great comfort with friends in The Church of the Good Shepherd and in St. Marks who supported her needs.
The one great love of her life was her dogs, and she had a variety of dogs, including a boxer and a beautiful Rhodesian Ridgeback. She was passionate about red squirrels and red deer stags. She was also passionate about the environment and global warming and she expressed her concerns to her local MP and received a well informed letters in return.
Anita also loved travelling; holidays to Scotland, Isle of Wight and travelling down to Littlehampton with the church.
Anita was often treated to Christmas dinner with her Uncle Laurie and was also treated to Christmas lunch by John Allinson, who also gave Anita a lot of his time.
Anita's parents lived their final days in a Weymouth Care Home, dad sadly passed away in 2006 and mum sadly passed away in 2009.
