Nan, you are still one of the most important parts of my life. You mean and meant everything to me, one very special lady in everyone’s life to whom you graced your presence with. This world lost a very precious person when you left and I was privileged enough to support you in your final moments, helping you to find Grandad. You will always be in my heart and I promise to look after Oscar the tortoise and pass him down to my next generation. The foundation of my life was built on your love and support and the selflessness.

Fridays will never be the same for me as I lost something I simply can never replace. Many Fridays spent with ice cream sundae on a Friday with your pot of tea will be the highlight for me! We shared a lot of precious memories and I promise to carry them with me for as long as I live. I love you Nan and miss you unconditionally. Lots of love Joshua Robert ❤️

My friend at school, I remember the time we went to her granny's house,it was a pre fab in Lillington and we had tea at her grans. We had a great time in school and was part of a group of friends who kept together. Shirley helped me about seven years ago when I had my knee joint replaced by telling me about it when she had hers done before me. I will not forget her kindness. R I P Shirl xxx

Shirley, you were an amazing, supportive and kind person. You always gave the best advice and were always there for me. Although we were not blood related, we both never felt that and you were my Nanny. You inspire me always and I am so grateful for everything and for us to have such a connection, I will continue to make you proud. I will miss you forever and love you always! May you rest in peace. xxx

  • Shirley was a lovely person and someone who I’d known for about 30 years, on and off. We connected again when Adam and Rachel got together. Her spirituality had always been evident and I know how precious her faith was to her. When I first met her it was in a study group through Staplegrove Church. She was a warm, accepting person with a deep faith. Just a few short weeks ago, at her house,we had a great conversation about faith and hope and how she was coping with the loss of Nigel and her hopes for her boys and wider family members. She had no idea then what was ahead of her. Her love for her family was paramount, emotional and all consuming. Shirley you’ll be very much missed for the person you were, the love you gave so freely and how you demonstrated God’s love in action. Thank you for being my friend. God bless you as you rest in his presence with Nigel. X
