In loving memory of Evelyn Johnson, who sadly passed away on 21st July 2025. Evelyn was born in 1921 in Liverpool but emigrated with her family to New Zealand when she was two. She lived in various places including Australia, the Pitcairn Islands before they finally settled in New Zealand. She was very sporty and loved hockey, amongst other sports but swimming was her passion.
She met Jack, her future husband when he was billeted in New Zealand during the war. After a long engagement while he was at sea, Evelyn came back to England and married Jack in 1947. They we married for 27 years before Jack sadly died in 1976.
After three children Peter, Ian and Marian were born she became a teacher of needlework and loved teaching.
When she retired she moved from Barkingside in Essex to Framlingham in Suffolk where she made a really happy life for herself being close to Ian and her grandchildren. She took up lots of hobbies including Scottish dancing, bird watching, croquet and boules.
Evelyn her family, her three children, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and loved spending time with them when they visited.

We were so sad to hear that Evelyn had died. An adventurous, outgoing and creative woman. She will be remembered by her family in New Zealand where she grew up with love and affection.
