In loving memory of the late Nikki Herbison who sadly passed away on 18th May 2014.

Nikki was a wonderful Mum, with 2 lovely wee boys, and was part of a warm, loving family.

She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.

Devastated to hear the sad news of the tragic loss of Nikki. Although we knew her only for a short while professionally, she was a genuinely lovely person who left a lasting impression our family. We shall be eternally grateful for the compassion, care and dedication she showed towards our daughter Sophie both at the Park Hospital and at QMC. We are only too sorry that she didn't get to see the results of her work with our daughter. Our heart felt sympathy goes to Nikki's Husband, Children and family. From The Corah Family.

I saw Nicola at QMC on numerous occasions because of a squint in my eyes. She always said that she would be hopeful that they would be able to help me and would be truly upset if nothing could be done.

I had a completely successful surgery nearly 2 months ago and only wish that she could be here to see the final result.

I worked alongside Nikki at Nottingham, we had some great times and great laughs she will be sadly missed but was a joy to know during her far too short life. She was a highly motivated caring person and her children should be very proud of all she achieved

I am so sorry to hear that Nicola has passed away. My thoughts go out to her family at this time.

I spent 3 years as a student of Nicola’s on the FdSc Ophthalmic Science & Technology foundation degree course. She worked tirelessly for us as students and was a great support throughout my time in Nottingham. I enjoyed her company as a teacher and friend as part of a small group working together on a new course and all the challenges is presented. We enjoyed a real sense of camaraderie as a group and Nicola with her kind nature, good humour and commitment as our teacher was the driving force behind this. She will be sadly missed.

I wish to pass on my deepest sympathy to Nichola's husband and boys. I am deeply saddened to here about Nichola's death.

I was fortunate to have been one of Nichola's first students on the FdSc Ophthalmic Science and Technology foundation degree. It was with her guidance and support that I was able to graduate in 2009. The course itself was new and Nichola worked extremely hard to keep the course going and us as a group motivated. She made learning fun and we had many laughs as a group. She was an excellent teacher. She was really a lovely person. RIP Nic xxx

I knew her as a work colleague and as the manager for the I-BiT project. There are some people who just made the world a better place, who just get stuck in and go above and beyond. Such people are rare and precious and this is just so sad and tragic.

So sorry to hear of Nicola's death. I first met her when we interviewed her for the tutor's post a New College Nottingham. It was a new course and we hardly knew what we were doing, and it was her first teaching post. but of course she was absolutely brilliant. She was a gifted teacher, the students thought the world of her and they did extremely well. We struggled on after she left, but she was irreplaceable. I know she succeeded at everything she did, but she was also kind, funny, imaginative, understanding, caring and conscientious, remembered with affection by students and fellow teachers. Such a loss to her husband and children, and all who knew her.
