In loving memory of David Anderson who sadly died on 3rd May 2025.
He was the oldest child of Bertram and Gladys Anderson, brother to Trish and Michael. He left school, aged 15, and joined the Army as a boy soldier. After basic training at Chepstow, he joined the RAMC Apprentice School at Church Crookham, which is when he first met the girl who wold become his wife but, like so many other couples, they did not like each other at that time.
Some years later, they met again, married and had 4 children, David, Peter, Geoffrey and Rose. The family moved frequently because of his military service. The longest period they spent in one dwelling was 2 years, until they came to Taunton in 1973 and decided to make their home here. David was now nearing retirement, though the last 2 years of his service life were spent in London.
He had a strong Christian faith and was active in church life both whilst in the army and after he retired. He also took an interest in local affairs, becoming a member of Trull Parish Council and a Governor of Trull Primary School. After He and Tricia moved to Hammets Wharf, he became a member of the Schools Appeal Panel, as well as a Governor of St Andrew's Primary School.
At various times he belonged to the CEMS, the Loyal Order of Moose, and Probus.
The motto of the RAMC is In Arduis Fidelis, which means Faithful in Adversity, and he was always faithful. He was faithful to his family, to his beloved football team, Pompey, and to the various organisations to which he belonged. Most of all, he was faithful to his wife for 64 years, 8 months and 13 days. He will be sadly missed.

Thank you to everyone who has lit a candle, left a message and/or donated money.
I'm not sure whether anyone but me keeps returning to this page but, if you do, thank you very much. You have all helped keep me sane.
