What a guy! I shopped and bantered with him for years. Sometimes he was the only adult I spoke to in my day when I was at home in Coldshaws with my young son-certainly kept me mentally alert! And his continued presence in the community despite his serious health issues was inspirational.

He was the best grandad anyone could ever ask for he always went above and beyond for anyone he was the most independent man I’ve ever met that’s probably where I get it from you always made it happen and never needed anyone for anything you really was a true inspiration and role model words can’t describe how much I’m going to miss seeing you driving along the road on your mobility scooter with the most random things hanging off it I will forever cherish every memory we ever had I love you forever and always my beautiful angel may you rest in perfect paradise grandad 🩷🕊️

Alan was a funny, generous & honest man.
I can’t remember how many times he’d have me in stitches laughing with his simple but direct wit & his inimitable Yorkshire ways.
Sincere condolences to all his family & may the Lord rest his gentle soul x.
