It is with the heaviest of hearts we announce the passing away of a beloved father to Georgia and Olivia, husband to Trisha, brother to Karen, son to Jim and Vet to every animal he ever saw, Scott Carpenter.

Scott was sadly diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumour in late 2024, and taken far to early on Christmas Day. Throughout this time Scott was fiercely brave and kept his excellent sense of humour, making those around him laugh constantly which was always one of his most fantastic traits.

Scott’s biggest wish was to be at home during this time, surrounded by his family. With the help of Dorothy House Hospice Care, Scott’s family were able to keep him at home with them, not only enabling him to have his last wish - but allowing his family to be so close to him during this time.

There will be a funeral service on Friday 24th January 2025 at West Wilts Crematorium at 12pm where you are invited to celebrate Scott’s life. Please wear whatever you feel comfortable in, there is no dress code.

Please make any donations to Dorothy House who were fundamental in helping enact Scott’s final wish of staying at home with us.

My friend Lisa and I shared a flat with Paul. Scott, Paul and Bill travelled around as one unit most days - the best of friends. We have so many happy memories of being young in Edinburgh studying together. Sending my love to you all at this very sad time

I was deeply sad to hear Scott had been diagnosed with a terminal illness, he was a great vet and cherished friend to many. Scott dedicated his life to the care of animals, bringing compassion and expertise to his work.
Those of us who had the privilege of working alongside Scott at The George in the 90s will fondly remember a time filled with laughter, camaraderie, and memorable celebrations. The practice was a vibrant community, marked by numerous parties, weddings, and, most notably, Scott's own joyful wedding to Trish.
The joy continued with the arrival of Georgia, and I was honored to be asked to be her godmother. While life's demands inevitably led to less frequent encounters in recent years, we know Scott would have been immensely proud of his daughters and would have relished the opportunity to guide Georgia in her pursuit of veterinary medicine, following in his footsteps.
Sadly, Scott was taken too soon. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Scott was a true gentleman, in every meaning of the word. Throughout our university life he was great fun and contributed massively to the enjoyment of our time there, but he was also the most sensible and wisest of us all. He was also annoyingly good at Trivial Pursuit.
Ever since he has been such a hard worker and great family man as he worked towards a retirement that he was so sadly denied by circumstance.
Trisha, Georgia, Olivia, Jim, Karen….you have all been amazing in these last few months at caring for him.
