I cannot make Anne’s funeral today but would like to pay my respects to her and husband Terry and family, who I send my most sincere and heartfelt condolences. Anne was compassionate, empathetic, not just towards the callers to Samaritans but also to her friends and colleagues. She was amazingly easy to talk too and had a canny ability to make people feel at ease from the first time of meeting them.

Anne set an example that I try to match. But I'll never quite manage that. She was an altogether exceptional person, never quick to judgement but always aware that we could do things better and achieve more. As a new volunteer I found her friendly but a person I wanted to please. Later, she was a rock and a guide when I tried flying higher. In a place full of remarkable people, Anne nevertheless stood out: constant, watchful, honest, and with a twinkle at the end of a meeting. There won't be anyone quite like her in the years to come.

I representative the Folkestone Samaritans and we all just wanted to add a few words to express our sadness on Anne's passing .Also to express our extreme gratitude for all her contributions to the branch and callers over many many years . Anne was a wonderful person full of grace , warmth , humour and wisdom .
Anne held many roles within the branch including being our director and training lead . She encouraged us all to be the very best we could be .
Her passing takes a bit of sunshine from the world and her loss is spread across the sky .
