In loving memory of Frank Boreham who sadly passed away on 15th March 2024
Frank had been living with Multiple Myeloma for a number of years, he had a pragmatic attitude towards his illness and would simply say ‘that’s life’ and get on with living it. In early 2023 it was discovered that he also had bowel cancer, which had spread too far for treatment. It was the bowel cancer which had the biggest impact on Frank’s life and meant moving into residential care. During his last year of life Frank had many hospital admissions and several surgeries. He proved the medics wrong on more than one occasion and remained his usual cheerful self throughout.
Frank had a long career as a train driver, his interest in railways went beyond his job. He loved to read about railways past and present and enjoyed visiting heritage railway lines. He had a vast knowledge of the railway and could tell many a tale about his experiences. He also enjoyed military history and had fond memories of his national service days.
Frank loved his home and garden and could often be found working in his garden and those of his friends and neighbours. Although he missed his wife, Margaret who passed away in 2009, he remained active and independent until his health began to fail him. Frank was a cheerful and sociable person who could strike up a conversation with almost anyone, if he could help anyone out, he would and will be very much missed by his daughter, family and friends
Franks funeral will take place at St Nicholas Church, Long Road, Canvey Island on Friday 26 April at 2.45 pm, followed by a short service at Basildon Crematorium at 4 pm. Anyone who knew Frank is welcome to come along to celebrate his life at the funeral service and to raise a glass to him after at the Oysterfleet , Canvey Island.
Family Flowers only please, for those who wish to , donations can be made to the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance ( via this page) which Frank had supported

Being part of Frank, Margaret and Sue’s church life has been an honour and a privilege . They have always been loved and respected , Franks life changed drastically the last few years of his life , not being able to live in his lovely home and helping neighbours and friends with their gardens which we know he loved doing .
He accepted this change with calm and dignity and I feel he fought his illness for so long because of one person in his life and that was Sue his daughter ❤️
Credit to you Sue the way you cared for your Dad and spent every day giving him the best end of life he could have , here for you now and always Jean and Family xxxxx

I have known Frank for as long as Sue and I have been at school together. My biggest memory must be the immaculate lawn and garden. Always a lovely chatty man and would always ask after my mum. Sending you lots of love and strength Sue xx

I will miss your tales of the evacuation and telling me about our family tree. Visiting you on canvey with Nan as a child will always be some of my fondest memories. Staunch old labour- you always stood for the rights of your fellow man. Although we’ve lost a true, kind family man, heaven has gained a new member and you and auntie Margaret will be together again. Will raise a glass 🥃 for you. Never forgotten x
