It is with great sadness that the family of Carol Norton announce her passing on 25th February, at the age of 80.

Carol passed away peacefully in Medway Hospital and will be lovingly remembered by her son, Dominic and daughter, Emma.

Carol was born 'Carol Anne Milne', in London, during the war and was a Bermondsey girl at heart, having grown up there.

Carol married Michael Norton from Southfleet, Kent in 1972 and they set up home in Cliffe Woods, near Rochester, Kent. Although they both worked at Lewisham Council at the time, they were introduced via a couple who were mutual friends. Since around that time Mum worshipped at Waterford House Evangelical Free Church in Strood and maintained her strong faith in God throughout her life.

In 1978 they adopted Dominic and then, in 1983, they adopted Emma. Carol stayed at home throughout their childhood to care for and raise them.

Carol worked three different roles at the Cliffe Woods School over three decades however was best and most widely known, in the local community, as the much-loved Lollipop Lady. She retired in 2019 at the age of 76, despite having already faced serious health challenges since 2016. A special retirement assembly was held as a sign of appreciation for Mum's long service, commitment and popularity with teachers, pupils, and parents alike.

The funeral will consist of two services on Wednesday 10th April 2024, 1.30pm at the above-mentioned church, then moving onto Thames View Crematorium in Gravesend for 3pm.

Please feel free to share your memories of Carol through this online obituary.

Carol was such a warm-hearted, lovely person. When she worked at our local primary school in Cliffe Woods, she always had a big smile on her face - and all the children really loved her dearly. Sending much love to Dominic, Emma and all who knew Carol xxxxx

Emma Pollitt nee Tait wrote

Carol was such dear friend whom I met at Waterford House Evangelical Church when I was in my teens. Over the decades she continually encouraged me in my Christian journey. We would write or phone each year and share of God's goodness in our lives. A very much missed sister in Christ , but who will now be enjoying her room in heaven
