Mr Flaxman was my teacher at Brampton Road School in what would now be Year 6. I ended up teaching and becoming head of a secondary school for twelve years. I may well not have done that had it not been for his influence.

Alan was a wonderful, kind and caring Husband, Father and Grandfather. He was our rock.
His memory will live forever in our hearts, there are no words to express our sadness.
He touched the hearts and minds of thousands of pupils over 44 years in teaching, He always made learning fun, was passionate about his job and was "born to be a teacher".
Above all he took pride in everyone's achievements, always celebrated them and offered endless support and encouragement.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
