In loving memory of Jane Buttery who sadly passed away on 15th February 2024 aged 87 years.
Daughter of Dick and Con Smallman; wife of Mike Buttery; Mum of David, Philip and Robert; Mother-in-Law to Beverley, Cairistine and Gillian; Granny to Harry, Hermione, Walter, Ellie, James and William; and future Granny-in-Law to Grace.

Mum was born in Kingswood, Surrey on 12th March 1936 at her parents home in The Chase.

She went to boarding school up in Staffordshire - followed by completing a home economics course in Eastbourne, and secretarial college in Purley. For a number of years she worked for Asquiths, ultimately working for the MD, Chairman and Technical Director.

Dad and Mum married on Oct 1, 1960 - after meeting in the Bath (Hotel) in Cambridge a few years earlier.

Children came along from 1963. Grandchildren from 1996.

When we think of mum - beyond the love you naturally have - we think of her humour, her care, her sense of duty and service to others, her thoughtfulness, her love of gardens and gardening, her love of bridge, her quiet courage, steel and determination, and her stoicism in the face of her ailing health.

She will be missed deeply by her family and friends alike. RIP mum. Always in our hearts.

D, P & R.

Jane and I go back nearly 88 years. Memories before and during the war sharing sitting in a pram together, pushing our dolls in prams up The Chase until we were teased by the boys and enjoying lovely parties tennis and bridge together. Jane & Mike were good friends over many years. What I remember most is the happy times and, especially, innocent laughter as the boys were growing up.
