The family regrets to announce the passing of MONICA JANE BERRY, born January 10 th , 1930.
peacefully on February 8th, 2024, with her two sons by her side.

Wife to Charles George Henry Berry, 1917–1997. Survived by sons, Mark and Robert, with their
wives Isobel and Ann, and grandchildren Richard, Evan, Steven, Christopher, and Alexandra.
Monica was a Registered Nurse, qualifying and working in Northern Ireland and England, who moved
to Bermuda in 1955 as a staff nurse with King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. Her duties included the
Children’s Ward, Curtis Ward and Gosling Ward, and upon retirement in 1996, working at
Westmeath Residential and Nursing Care Home for several years following. She was a member of
the Royal College of Nursing, London, England, and the Bermuda Registered Nurses Association.
Monica was an active member of the Bermuda Garden Club and a keen enthusiast of Ikebana
Japanese flower arranging, successfully completing the Advanced Course at the Ohara School of
Ikebana is in Japan and is attending several overseas conferences and two World Congresses’. She was also
a life member of the Bermuda College Seniors Learning Centre and the Bermuda Red Cross.
Monica’s life was well lived, and her time in Bermuda until relocating back to England in 2010 was a
dynamic and engaging one. Many happy memories were made with her husband “Charlie”, and their
Life with the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club and the international sailing community was an integral part.
Monica also fully embraced Bermuda and its people, caring for so many and giving back to the
community in any way that she could. She was especially devoted to the Bermuda Red Cross and
RSPCA, enthusiastically supporting both their causes. Monica had a deep love for both people and
animals.

Monica will be cremated with a family service on March 20 th in England, with a Bermuda service to
be held at Christ Church Warwick, Thursday, April 4 th , starting at 4pm followed by a reception at the
Royal Bermuda Yacht Club from 5pm until 7:30 . Her ashes will be laid to rest with her husband
"Charlie," as was her wish.

The family would be grateful for any memorial contributions made in Monica’s name to the
Bermuda Red Cross, and/or the RSPCA.
