In loving memory of David Edward Plumb who sadly passed away on 17th February 2024.

David was born in Battersea in London to a working class household. He became a successful businessman, but his greatest achievements were as the devoted husband of 58 years to Edna and as the loving father to Kathy, Nigel and Becky, and grandfather to Eddie and Alex.
He had 87 years of a life well lived, and his presence will be sorely missed

Many of you visiting this site will have fond memories of David stretching back several decades, I personally can only reflect on knowing him as my neighbour for the past 15 years. Firstly it seems very strange to be talking of his passing as I had never even considered him as ‘old’ despite there being an almost exact thirty year age gap between us. In many respects he had embraced this new digital online world with an enthusiasm and energy that quite frankly brings embarrassment to my own luddite mindset. As a simple example he was quickly sold on the idea of his autonomous robotic lawn mower but continued to retain an element of ‘hands on fun’ by using the sit on mower as a leaf and debris collector. My two children both enjoyed an occasional trip around the garden with him over the years as a final treat after an otherwise boring day helping me with a somewhat less exciting task. Numerous fencing, hedging and garden projects aplenty were jointly tackled with good humour and logical thinking. There always appeared to be a new hobby or the revitalising of an old one from model making to picture painting in the summer house, “Its not ‘Art’ Dane only painting” was the frequent response whenever I complimented his latest. That was the great thing about having David as a friend, he was approachable, on hand to help but not overwhelming. I really find it difficult to believe that I won’t be chatting with him over the fence this summer.
