My dear wife Vickie, you were loved and respected by so many people, family, friends, colleagues and neighbours. You have left such a mark on many lives by your passion and care. You did this by just being yourself and that was always enough.

Vickie was born in Easington 18/09/65. Eldest daughter
to Neville and Patricia Scorer. Vickie has two brothers, Neville and Michael and two sisters, Anita and Terri. Vickie had one daughter, Aura.

As her husband, I could not have been more blessed to have Vickie as my wife for 32 years. I loved her so much and I am so proud of her. When we were married, we lived in Edinburgh for 8 years which was the highlight of our lives. Vickie met so many wonderful people there that she said helped make her the person she was. She worked as a care worker during our time there.

Vickie had a unique character. There were no grey areas with her, what you saw was what you got. She always had a strong sense of justice and knew her own mind. She treated everyone the same and always stood up for the underdog. Vickie was an elegant and tasteful woman in a very modest way. She was very content with what she had but was very kind in giving to others, both of material things and of herself.

She has been an amazing support and friend as well as a beloved wife. She was always so encouraging and straightforward. We loved holidays in Cornwall and Northumberland. Vickie was also a keen and adventurous cook.

Vickie was a loving mam who passed on her passion and love for books and stories to her daughter, Aura.

Vickie was loved by all of her family. Her mam and dad Pat and Nev and her brothers and sisters Michael, Neville, Anita and Terri and by my own family. There were many nieces and nephews for Vickie to love and tell stories to. Vickie was a very special sister and aunty to them all

Vickie was very much loved and respected by everyone who knew her. She was able to share her passion about books and stories in her work as a librarian. She made such an impression on her colleagues and customers who held her in very high regard. Her manager said "I wish I had a team full of Vickies." Which is a wonderful tribute. Vickie loved her customers and telling stories to the children who came in. It was her lifes work.

Vickie always made an effort to help her neighbours and maintain a friendly relationship with them. She would often make sure they had a regular supply of books and always had an open door for a chat.

For over 30 years Vickie battled cancer on many different fronts. Despite her hardships and challenges, she very seldom complained and remained very pragmatic. Everyone has been so impressed by her attitude and courage. We are so proud of her and will forever remember and love her.

We have faith and hope that we will meet again. Vickie is forever in the arms of Jesus, there is his eternal life, joy, and perfection.

Thank you Jesus for your most precious and perfect gifts.

Please wear a splash of colour if attending the service.

Donations in lieu of flowers to St Cuthbert's hospice, Durham a donation box will be available in church.
