The following is taken from words written by Andrew about his own beginnings.
"I am writing this with the handicap of having lost my fluency with pen or pencil thanks to the prevalence of the personal computer, and a loss of fluency on account of old age. Perhaps I will recover that facility with the practice that this under-taking will provide!
"My beginning:-
"I was born on 23rd January in Hillside Nursing Home in Faversham in 1943. My parents were Martin Albert Parry and Catherine Mary Parry (née Ely and always known as Mary). It being wartime, my father was serving in the Royal Air Force at Moreton-in-Marsh in Gloucestershire, and, as a result, my Mother was living with her parents, Charles Edward and Lily Maud Ely, at 22 Briton Road in Faversham."
From those beginnings, Andrew's life was science and nature, music and language, gardening and birds - but always gentleness, quiet wit, and a unique fashion sense!

How time flies - 20 years ago!
Walking on the beautiful dymchurch beach, anxious to impress him with my amatuer piano tunes, taking in the beauty of his abundantly fruitful garden. These are some of my special memories with the Parrys. Until we meet again, Uncle Andrew!
