On 5th January, suddenly, at home in Haworth, West Yorkshire, Roger aged 71 years, formerly of Radcliffe. Beloved husband of Helen, much loved father of Adam and Daniel and a loving grandad to Calvin.

I am shocked and genuinely saddened to hear of Roger’s passing. Almost 18 years ago he hired me into Jet2 and I had the pleasure of seeing his calm and supporting training methods as I learnt to fly the 737. He passed me on my base check in the 737. He was a gentleman through and through, always available for a chat, and importantly, someone you would always make the effort to talk with. He was well liked and respected by all the pilots in Jet2, something not all management pilots can attest to.

I will remember him extremely fondly.

My apologies for missing his funeral, as I have only just discovered the news. Adrian King

When those around us finish their walk prematurely we are moved to tears. For the family who are missing their pillar the loss is felt for years. Remember him well, remember the great things he did and the smiles he gave. Look up in the sky and remember fondly.

How can you have been a part of my life 38 years? I can’t comprehend you have gone. From the early days watching you play the guitar and sing, bringing so much happiness through your music, to putting the worlds to rights late into the night. I feel truly honoured to have been your friend and will always miss you x

It was always a pleasure to fly with you as your navigator.
I have very fond memories of our time together with you and the
other reprobates on Crew 7. Blue skies mate, you left us too soon.

It was with great sadness that we at Jet2.com learned of the sudden death of Roger.

Retiring from us in 2018, Roger had been instrumental in introducing the B737 aircraft to Channel Express and assisting in the company's transition to Jet2.com. Roger had joined Channel Express in 2001 as the B737 Fleet Manager and went on to be the Jet2.com Chief Pilot until 2016.

Before Channel Express, Roger had a distinguished career on the ‘V’ force in the Royal Air Force, before joining Gill Air in NCL on the ATR. Later, Roger went to British World Airlines as the ATP Fleet Manager and then moved to the B737 fleet where he was the Head of Training and then Chief Pilot.

The early days of Jet2.com were pioneering and Roger was very much at the heart of this. Many of today’s pilots were recruited/interviewed by Roger who’d been intrinsic to their training and development. As a person, Roger was a gentleman; as a manager, he was a pragmatist who was always keen for pilots to enjoy their flying. Many of our pilots and Training Captains gained a great deal of experience and pleasure from operating with Roger, and he will be sorely missed.
