George was very welcoming to me when I joined Bawtry Community Library as a new Trustee. In my thoughts at this sad time.

Trustees Bawtry Community Library wrote

George was instrumental in saving Bawtry Community Library when it was threatened with closure. He worked with councillors, Library staff, members of the local community and many others to keep the library open, run by a group of volunteers.
He was Chair of Trustees at the library for a number of years before ill health caused him to retire.
Without his help, support, enthusiasm and refusal to give in we wouldn't have the thriving community library we have today.
Posted on behalf of Bawtry Community Library volunteers.
